How do I get my knives sharpened by Valley Sharp?

We offer three ways to sharpen your knives: 1) Mobile Service in Cle Elum, Roslyn, and Ellensburg. 2) Local Drop-Off at partner locations in Seattle (like The Pantry) and Cle Elum. 3) Nationwide Mail-In Service for high-performance cutlery.

Can I ship dull knives to you for sharpening?

Yes. We offer a nationwide mail-in service. Pack your knives safely (cardboard sandwich or edge guards) and ship to our Cle Elum workshop. We aim to return-ship within 2 business days.

How long does knife sharpening take?

Mobile appointments are typically done on-site while you wait. Drop-off orders usually have a 24-48 hour turnaround. Mail-in orders are processed and shipped back within 2 business days of receipt.

Is the mobile sharpening deposit refundable?

Deposits for private mobile appointments are refundable up to 48 hours before the scheduled service. Cancellations within 48 hours are non-refundable to cover the travel time blocked out for your slot.

Do you teach knife sharpening classes?

Yes. Founder Darin Gagner teaches sharpening workshops at The Pantry in Seattle and offers private 1-on-1 instruction. Check our Classes page for upcoming dates.

Can serrated knives be sharpened?

Yes. We sharpen the individual gullets (teeth) of serrated knives to restore their slicing ability. We can restore bread knives, steak knives, and serrated utility blades.

Do you sharpen professional shears or sewing scissors?

Yes. We service hair shears, professional grooming scissors, and fabric shears. We adjust the tension and ride lines to ensure they cut cleanly without folding the material.

Can you sharpen my chainsaw?

No. We specialize in fine cutlery, culinary tools, and garden hand-tools (pruners, axes). We do not service gas-powered machinery or chainsaw chains.

Is all of your sharpening done in-house?

100%. Your knives never leave Darin’s custody. Every blade is handled personally by Darin Gagner to ensure the heat treatment and geometry are respected.

Where can I drop off knives for sharpening?

We have drop-off locations at The Pantry and Book Larder in Seattle, as well as our home base in Cle Elum. Please check our Calendar page for current pickup dates.
