How to Prepare Your Kitchen Knives for Sharpening

To ensure safety and the best results for your professional knife sharpening service, please follow these three simple steps before dropping off your cutlery or kitchen shears:

1. Clean Your Blades

Please hand-wash and dry all knives and shears. Handling clean steel is safer for everyone and allows for a precise inspection of the blade's edge and bevel before we begin.

2. The "Towel Roll" Transport Method

You don't need a professional knife roll to transport your blades safely. Follow the "Knife Burrito" method:

Lay a thick kitchen towel out flat on a counter.

Place the first knife at one end and fold the towel over the blade.

Roll and repeat: Place the next knife down and roll again until all blades are securely wrapped.

Secure the bundle with rubber bands or string to prevent knives from sliding out.

3. Use Cardboard Sheaths

For individual knives, a DIY cardboard sleeve works perfectly. Simply fold a piece of cardboard over the blade and tape the edges shut to create a temporary, safe sheath.
